gayoung

Gayoung is originally from South Korea. She lived in Canada for a stint and has been calling Europe her home for the last seven years. Her German is basically perfect and she asks that I speak to her in dialect. By this it is obvious that she possesses a great deal of adventure and determination in her soul. She’s currently working on completing a Master’s degree in psychology at the University of Basel. Gayoung is having her lunch on a park bench when I interrupt and ask to take her picture.

We talk about the concept of home for a little bit. She shares that having moved around a fair amount, it can be difficult to feel really grounded in one place. I’m struck by how open and receptive Gayoung is to the process of having her portrait taken. To me it seems like she has a tremendous gift for flowing with the world around her. For her birthday, her housemates gifted her a bike. Some of her favorite things are meditating and painting her nails.
