céline
Céline stands on a chair in the kitchen so that she can press the buttons on the coffee machine. She likes to help out and is very aware of her surroundings. I sip from my cup and chat with her parents, Sarah and Hadrien. Céline’s initial shyness gives way to play and laughter.
As I begin to unpack my gear, Céline glances my way intermittently but does not lose sight of the task at hand. With utmost focus and deliberation she paints and describes the world unfolding on the once blank piece of paper in front of her.
As we relocate outdoors it, dawns on me that taking a picture every day is not nearly as hard as parenting and the thought gives me courage that it’s possible to complete this project. I watch Hadrien with admiration as he keeps a watchful eye. He flinches every so often as Céline cruises down a ramp, picking up speed as she goes.
